CAD Operator / Draughtsman

Job Description

Responsible for 3D design and CAD/drawing requirements for D&C’s manufacturing and installation.

The main function of the role is to produce 3D design solutions, 2D manufacturing drawings for production whilst operating cost-effectively with great attention to detail.

• The position will be directly responsible, reporting to Senior Management
• The successful candidate is expected to act in the company`s interest at all times
• The position is office based, with some occasional site visits to analyse projects to be undertaken.

The main functions of the job are to:-

• An understanding of structural steelwork and its design.
• Maintain design-engineering expertise to a high standard, including use of latest CAD techniques.
• Provide design solutions to design problems.
• Carry out work to agreed timescales, to high-standards.
• Complete all documentation as required by company procedures

The main responsibilities are to:-

• Work is to be undertaken efficiently in-line with D&C’s recognised procedures.
• Maintain a positive and motivated approach to company-based activities/processes.
• Maintain the company system for creating and issuing drawings.
• Action change requests in a timely manner.
• Contribute effectively across multiple projects.

Key Skills required:-

• High-calibre CAD skills, using Bentley Microstation software and conversant with AutoCAD
• Excellent eye for detail.
• Strong ability to innovate through their designs.
• Maintaining a high-level of understanding of manufacturing techniques.
• High level of self-motivation.
• Capable of working individually or as part of a small, multi-disciplined team.
• Ability to work effectively, unsupervised, including the effective planning and delivery of own work.
• Ability to learn new methods and techniques quickly.
• Ability to embrace and encourage change, including cross-departmental working.

Desired Skills & Experience:-

• Experience in structural steelwork is essential
• Product/Fabrication design experience.
• Working knowledge of Lean (or other improvement methodologies)
• Proven track record of effective product/project delivery.
